During our travels on the net, we sometimes come across some real gems.
This one was discovered thanks to Kate Tolley who we connected to via LinkedIn. Kate is the Director of Really Good SEO. During the Christmas period, Kate ran a series of Advent posts on her blog offering a new tool every day and this is how we discovered Traffic Travis. Kate’s blog is a really good read and we highly recommend it!

Traffic Travis is a free Search Engine Optmisation (SEO) tool and pulls all the information you need into one easy to use platform. If you’d like to understand what SEO means and what it entails, you can read SEO in Layman’s Terms which will take you through the basic terminology and what is involved.

Traffic Travis takes minutes to set-up and offers video tutorials to take you through the various tabs. The free version allows you to have up to 5 “projects” or websites monitored. More than enough for any small business!

There are 5 tabs which are filled with really useful info.
The first tab, your dashboard, shows you your alexa ranking, your top 5 ranked keywords, how many pages are indexed by the search engine of your choice and how many backlinks exist to your site amongst much more info.
The second tab called “My site”, breaks the information down per page and lets you see any warning such as alt tags missing etc…
The third tab, “Research”, lets you do keyword research. It will show you variants you may want to use and
will also tell you how much a Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign would cost you for that keyword.
The fourth tab, “SEO”, will give you the ranking of your keywords in your chosen search engines. You can also research your competitors and it will suggest a list of sites in order to create backlinks for your chosen keywords.
The fifth tab is dedicated to PPC.

All in all, it’s a great tool and one every business should have even if you outsource your SEO to someone like Kate. It allows you to understand how your site is performing against others and which areas need to be concentrated on.

You can download it for free here. Enjoy!
